Trauma Resources

Only after learning to bear what is going on inside can we start to befriend, rather than obliterate, the emotions that keep our maps fixed and immutable.

  • EMDR

EMDR stands for Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing where a trained practitioner guides you in addressing, understanding, and reprocessing trauma using a stimulation technique and visualization exercise. EMDR has been proven (here) to be more effective in treating PTSD and PTSD-like symptoms than other traditional treatments that address trauma.

  • Internal Family Systems

IFS, born out of Marriage & Family Therapy, is an evidence-based model that assesses your internal system within to release the burdens carried and held in the mind & body. IFS differentiates between your sense of Self and the multitudinous parts inside of you who carry the memories and emotions of traumatic experiences. IFS teaches you how to transform these experiences, rather than changing or pushing them away.

  • Somatic Therapy

For those who are particularly sensitive to the "felt sense" of trauma in your physical body, Somatic Therapy could be a great option to release the dysregulation in the nervous system and find physiological equilibrium (or balance) in sensorimotor psychotherapy or somatic experiencing.
