How To Create A Life You Don't Need A VACATION From
Any one of these phrases is an indicator that your life is not as full as it could be:
"Thank God it's Friday!"
"I can't wait until Summer break."
"Just 13 weeks & 5 days until we leave for vacation..."
Unfortunately, it has become the norm for most of us to dread the work/school week and anxiously await the weekend.
We count down the days until our next vacation (if we're lucky enough to even get the time off to take a vacation at all).
But what if you lived a life that you didn't need to take a vacation from?
What if you so thoroughly enjoyed your life that vacations were bonuses, not reprieves?
I want to challenge you to step it up this year. Stop allowing yourself to play small. You only have this one life to experience all the experiences, but you can't do that if you limit yourself at a job you hate or in a relationship that is unfulfilling.
Someone who loves their life, who is passionate about what they do and is excited to wake up in the morning is not looking for a vacation to escape their reality. In fact, a vacation is the icing on the cake! It adds culture and value to their already joyous existence.
I already know what you're thinking... That sounds great and all but Robyn, how?? This sounds too good to be true!
To which I reply... For some people, it is too good to be true. That's because they are not willing to go outside of their comfort zone to explore the unknown.
When you've lived a large majority of your life thinking a certain way and holding certain belief systems, it can be scary to make the leap into unchartered territory. Sometimes it feels like it's easier to keep things the way they are and hope that they magically start to get better. And if they don't, at least you still have your pride... right?
Ugh. Wrong. Dead wrong.
Sure, it is uncomfortable to make changes and unlearn poor habits. But like I said, you only have this ONE life to have all of the most amazing experiences this world has to offer and you're going to waste them all out of fear of doing something different than what you're used to.
But I think the biggest thing that trips people up is largely a lack of knowledge or expertise. If you had someone there to hold your hand and guide you, you'd be much more likely to try something new.
Well guess what? I'm here to tell you that I will hold your hand and guide you down this path. I've put together 3 important steps to living a life you don't need a vacation from.
This is how to make it happen:
Step One: Practice Gratitude Work
Law of Attraction 101 tells us that when we appreciate what we have, the Universe sends us more of it – simple as that. Try incorporating a gratitude practice into your daily routine. Do this by writing down 5-10 things you are grateful for. I like to do this at night so that I can reflect back on the day and go to bed feeling grateful instead of anxious or wired.
Step Two: Eliminate Toxicity
If you're looking to escape with a vacation, chances are you have one or more toxic relationship or environment that makes you feel frustrated, exhausted and stuck. If you really want to live a life that you don't want to run from, you have to start eliminating the toxicity. It can be difficult to walk away but so is living a life you feel the need to run from... Do this by first asking yourself: "What no longer serves me, lifts me up and inspires me?"
Step Three: Find Your Passion
When you do what you love, it does not feel like work. Period. Figure out what you are passionate about and what you are good at doing. If you can find something that overlaps passion and talent, you have a winner! If you are still unsure, start volunteering or doing something that makes your heart happy, even if it is a hobby. Follow the inspiration and it will lead you to your passion.
If you've gotten this far and you're like... hell yeah, I'm super inspired and pumped, but where can I get even more info?!
